This is an example of a traditional "time-out" room in a Children's Mental Health Centre for latency age children that was converted into a "Room for Thought". A room that was typically seen as a more punitve element of control over children was converted into a place that refelcted the restorative values of thoughfulness and positive emotional expression. It illustrates that a restorative approach can be woven into the physical fabric of environments to reinforce positve relational encounters that address harm doing from a solution focussed persepctive. Equipping children to deal with problematic situations with simple straighforward skills at times of crises enhances their ability to deal with ongoing challeneges as they occur.
